Peruvian Painted Glass Octagonal Mirror - AFD

Rich Sienna, gold, white, and amber are hand painted on glass creating two pictures simultaneously: the picture on the painted surface and the opposite reversed side of the glass. The artist starts with the final details first, working backwards, building, and layering until the background is added last. Glasses smooth surface is not ideal to paint. Paint dries slowly on glass requiring 24 hours to dry in between each layer of the artist’s work. As a result of painting on glass the colors and designs are even more beautifully magnified. An elegant carved octagonal shaped frame adds to the beauty. Crafted with passion, each mirror is a beautiful piece of functional art.
